Collins Marine was established in 1978 by Frank Collins. As a keen yachtsman, and at that time, a Renault automotive dealer located in Sydney. It was a natural fit for a person with a marine background and an engineering back ground to get involved in the distribution of marine diesel engines.
In 1998, it was decided to venture into boat building. With the assistance of Nanni Diesel France, the hunt was on for a vessel that would use the Nanni Diesel power plant and offer some competitive advantage for local production. It was then that Arvor boats of France had just started to develop their classically styled "Pêche Promenade" diesel shaft drive vessels. The first vessel was the Arvor 20 which has been manufactured in Nowra NSW since 1999.
